What can make jaundice more dangerous?
Jaundice can cause problems for babies with certain risk factors. These risk factors include
babies who are born before 37 weeks’ gestation;
babies who weigh less than 2500 g at birth;
babies whose blood group is incompatible with their mothers’ blood group;
babies who have jaundice early in their life;
babies who have an infection; and
babies who needed resuscitation at birth.
